Why Do I Feel Scattered and I Can't Focus?

Updated: Jun 23, 2022

You know how it is; when you are trying to read something, whether it is something

important or simply for enjoyment, you read a paragraph, realize that none of what

you just read went in and actually entered your brain, so you have to read that

paragraph again!!!

Other times, when you lots to do, you flit from one thing to another, not finishing any one thing, feeling like you achieved nothing.

IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!

So what's that about??

Well what happens is that our frantic lifestyle is interpreted by our body as stress.

Your body does not realize you are simply trying to fit too much into your day !

That you had a busy morning trying to get the kids off to school or that there is a big dead line at work.

No, your body goes back to cave man times and interprets your stress as

"SOMETHING IS TRYING TO EAT YOU!"

Hormones are then released to tell your body that it needs to run or fight!!

Your body wants action!!

Blood is now being directed away from your brain and into to your muscles.

THIS IMPACTS YOUR ABILITY TO CONCENTRATE!

So what to do!!

If we were in cave man times, the stress would be relieved once we had escaped that

Sabre Tooth Tiger.

Our busy lives mean our stress is on going. From home to work to home again, there always seems to be something going on. And so we don't realise that we are in what our body interprets as stress. Because we are not unhappy, nothing major has happened, its just life right. Over all you feel happy.

We need to make sure we give ourselves some time out so that our body's get the

message, that "the danger is over and we are ok."

So you may:

  • Do a 5 minute guided meditation.

  • Go for a walk.

  • Give your self time to do something for your self that you enjoy.

  • Make sure you get enough sleep.

  • Make sure you are eating well.

Now to have the time to do these things, it is a good idea to get some form of routine

going and actually schedule some 'me' time in each day. It doesn't have to be long. We

don't want to add more stress.
